THE ARTIST

Jamie Williams is a conceptual artist working in sculpture and installation, based in Belmont, NC.

Before moving into large scale work, Williams spent years designing and making art meant to carry in your pocket. Through JRW Gear, he built a dedicated following, commanded extreme exhibition traffic and popularized the idea of pocket art. This work gave him an intimate understanding of materials, finishes, aesthetics, storytelling and emotional connections with objects.

His current work uses many of the aesthetics and materials he’s become fluent with in an entirely new scale and with a new objective. His ongoing project, Don’t Ignore the Horrors, examines cruelty, moral surrender and the ways people outsource their responsibility of right versus wrong.

Williams art says keep your eyes open, even when it hurts.
